Westward (or Westport) Ho...

Well today was a travel day. We had a tasty breakfast, which was a good thing, because we needed the extra calories to pack the car. How many Americans does it take to pack a mid-size sedan? 4 as it turned out and about 20 minutes of moving things around until finally, like Goldilocks, everything fit juuust right. Let me say right off the bat though, that no one is getting any gifts! We can't fit a darn thing more into this car. See for yourself...

As we planned for the day, we realized that the Lake Hike we talked about yesterday was 15 km in the opposite direction and so decided to forgo that in order to head West. We made our way back to Cavan. Dramamine was in order as the roads here are tiny and windy. The kids are squished in the back and are tossed too and fro from the curves and dips in the road. Brendan kept us all entertained with his Crossword iPhone app and we worked our way through a couple of crossword puzzles as we journeyed west.

It took us quite awhile to get 170km from Cavan to Westport. There were many small towns along the way, and traffic went from 120km/hr to 20 in random cycles. You'd think with a robust road name like the N5, that things would move right along. Not so!

We finally arrived here at Knockranny House at about 4:00. Food was the first thing on our minds. So we had a bite and wandered the town. Although we didn't seem to do much, we are all tired. I'm sure we will all be much more energetic in the morning.
