Journey into the Countryside

Our last day in Dublin has approached, but we made sure to squeeze in some last-minute touring before heading to Cootehill (Cavan)--where JK's Grandma was from. After a delicious breakfast and checking out, we hit the town on the tour bus. First stop was Christ Church Cathedral in hopes of seeing the inside, but unfortunately, we arrived just in time for service so "no looksies," as the priest greeting people at the door said.

Next stop was St. Patrick's Cathedral where we ran into the same thing so we ooo-ed and awwww-ed from the outside. We made some few last stops for photos and then headed back to our hotel to get our baggage and head to get our car.

After quite the wait, our blue Mercedes C-class pulled up and we were ready to roll! Poor Debbie is the designated driver for the trip and had to figure out the whole driving on the opposite side of the road deal... But after a few troubles with our GPS we call Money Penny (she has an accent) and turn-arounds, Deb did quite well! Let me tell you, the scenery on the way to Cootehill was breathtaking. It's exactly what I picture when I think of Ireland--the green hills and castles and cute houses.

Took a while to get situated...

...and then we were on the open road!

And just when we were nearing the town, Money Penny leads us down some1 lane road to who knows where and we spent the time hoping no one would come from the other direction!

...and then wa-la! We were back to civilization and soon enough we arrived to Cootehill!

Our hotel is quite fancy and has a marvelous view.

After our adventurous day and near carsickness from the windy roads, it was time for beer and a bite. The torrential downpour outside had prohibited us from walking around town so we'll leave that for tomorrow. But for now, perhaps cards and the bar later! Till next time..
